How this estimate is calculated
Every figure and assumption behind this calculator is listed here — nothing is hidden:
- Total benefit pool = monthly benefit × 12 × benefit period (in years). This is the maximum a reimbursement-style policy would pay out over its lifetime, ignoring inflation growth for the "today's target" row.
- Inflation growth. If you select 3% or 5% compound protection, your monthly benefit is compounded forward for the number of years you selected until a possible claim — the "at the year you might start a claim" row and the total both reflect that grown amount, the same way a real compound inflation rider works.
- What this doesn't include: premiums, elimination-period costs, or any specific carrier's actual policy terms. This is a planning estimate, not a quote — see get a free cost comparison for real numbers on real policies.
General estimate only, for education — not a quote, and not insurance, tax, or financial advice. A licensed agent can help you size a policy to your actual situation.
