What is the Federal Long-Term Care Insurance Program (FLTCIP)?
The FLTCIP is a long-term care insurance program for federal and postal employees, retirees, active and retired military, and their families, run by the U.S. Office of Personnel Management. Note: it is not accepting new applications during a suspension in effect through December 2026.
The Federal Long-Term Care Insurance Program (FLTCIP) is a group long-term care insurance program administered by the U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM). It is open to federal and postal employees and annuitants, active and retired members of the uniformed services, and certain qualified relatives (such as spouses, adult children, and parents).
Important — applications are currently suspended. OPM stopped accepting new FLTCIP enrollments on December 19, 2022, and has extended that suspension through December 19, 2026. Federal employees who want coverage during the suspension can still look at private long-term care policies from the carriers we cover.
